Blueleo.com is a free platform where parents in all five boroughs of NYC (as well as NJ, Long Island, Westchester and Fairfield) can post and search for classified listings in 21 categories ranging from babysitters to strollers to free trial classes to maternity wear in their own neighborhoods.

"Currently, NYC moms utilize their local yahoo groups to communicate with each other, refer babysitters and buy second hand items. However not all neighborhoods have built-in mommy networks, and locating second-hand items in email list serves can be a very tedious process." says Bahar Kural, Blueleo founder and Tribeca mother of two young kids. Blueleo overcomes this problem by providing all NYC parents and parents-to-be with a central classifieds site where a click of a button yields search results for the items of their choice in their own neighborhoods, ie. strollers in Nolita, baby sitters in the Upper East Side, music instruments in Harlem . Parents can also opt to subscribe to categories and neighborhoods so that they get an email everytime a listing matching their preferences is posted on Blueleo.

Members also get some perks. Thanks to Blueleo's relationships with 6,000 local businesses represented in the Blueleo Guide, Blueleo parents are offered free trial classes and exclusive deals which are also searchable on a neighborhood level..

Security is a major focus for Blueleo, which differentiates itself from generic classifieds sites like Craigslist through its emphasis on creating a real community of moms and dads. The Blueleo community, now around 7,000 NYC parents, are connected to each other through real-life friends. What makes this community unique is that it grew out of a core group of Bahar's friends - who now has 168 friends on the site. Members are encouraged to post listings under their real names to keep the community real - especially for nanny and housekeeper referrals. "I like to post on Blueleo under my real name, so that my friends can see my listings and other members who don't know me can see the number of friends I have on the site, and can tell right away that I am very much a real person!" says Bahar.

Blueleo is a division of Blueleo LLC which specializes in creating web and mobile applications for families. Blueleo's other main product is the www.BlueleoGuide.com, NYC's most comprehensive family guide for local resources and activities with 6,000 listings. Prior to launching Blueleo, Bahar worked in finance and started her career as an investment banker at Salomon Brothers. She completed her undergraduate degree at Swarthmore and received her MBA from Columbia Business School. Bahar lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
